First day of spring break

Last night we started our spring break by going camping. YEP....that's right.....camping in the living room. We set up the tent and the kids even put air in the air mattress and we got out the sleeping bags. My spot is on the couch. Rachel slept at one end and I took the other. Caleb and Zach started off in the tent on the mattress but Zach couldn't sleep so he went up and got in bed with Don. Ethan was on the floor but when Zach went upstairs he moved on in to the tent. Mayah fell asleep during the movie so I just took her upstair in the bed..............and do you know this is one of the first nights she has made it through without waking up and climbing in bed with me. It was fun and very simple and they thought it was the greatest. We watched a movie from the library called "Escape To Witch Mountain". It was really cute.

And like my brother said: no pesky bugs, smoke in your eyes, cold nights and you won't forget to bring anything. YES. And my favorite....no putting things away when getting home. BUT....my family loves the REAL camping even with all the little annoyances that go with it. Isn't that what makes the memories? The other fun thing that the kids did...well this was a few days ago. Caleb hooked the trampoline up to the riding lawn mower and moved it right outside the back door. Works great since we don't have any stairs there. You just open the door and jump and you are able to get out pretty quickly. My kids have never jumped on the trampline so much. It is pretty convenient to be able to open a door and get on your trampoline. I have even jumped out there a few times. And here is Zach jumping back in. His feet are not even touching the ground. :) I love how much exercise they get from this.

The older kids are helping the younger kids do ring around the rosy. They are still in their jammies and everything. Who needs a deck?

More jumping. I wish we could keep the door open and the bugs out. Won't happen. Just yesterday we had two wasps inside.

Plans for the rest of the week include a trip to the park with our friends....a trip to the pound ( a great place to take the kids to exercise the dogs) , easter egg dying and hunting, conference and an Easter dinner (if I feel up to it by then or if I can talk Don into cooking it).

this is awesome I am going to totally steal your idea of camping in the home. that way we get some practice before I lead my family into the wilderness ;)
