Great MOMS

I am so grateful for today. Although I think everyday should be mothers Day and that I should get a day like today everyday. Ok well I guess I will be happy with one day a year.

For starters I got a dozen red roses from Don and the boys. They also got me a cake. Then Don made me a dinner we never had before. It was some type of chicken with all sorts of spices and tomatoes and raisins. The rice had saffron in it and it was absolutely delicious. Then during dinner we had a scipture discussion. Don read about the Strippling Warriors. He was reading where it talks about how they did what they were told to do with exactness. Then he asked Rachel what she thought that meant. She didn't know so Don explained to her that if mom asks you to do the dishes you do it without complaining and whining. You just do it. So then he went on to discuss more about them and how their mothers had taught them. He then asked Ethan "What does that mean to you"? Ethan then said, THAT I SHOULD DO THE DISHES? That got a pretty good laugh. I love that my kids are so funny. I will share more funny things in my next blog about Zach. For now we will stick with mothers day. Thank you Don for sharing that part of the scriptures. One thing that was mentioned in Sacrament meeting was that God saved the best for last (Eve). Don leaned over and whispered "that's right". He really does honor me and I am so grateful for that.

Don didn't allow me in the kitchen to help clean. He put all the kids to bed and allowed me to really relax today. It was great. Thanks Don for making my day wonderful. I am grateful to be a mom of five. WOW. I never dreamed I would be allowed to have this many wonderful children. I never thought the Lord would trust me with such an important task. I hope I don't disappoint Him too much.

Ok now on to the GREAT MOM'S.

It's pretty sad that I can't find a photo on my computer of my mom and mother in law. I see my family once a year and with all the catching up I am not so great with the camera. Look for pictures later. I have to look in my UNORGANIZED stack of photos.

I want to first say how lucky I am to have such a wonderful mom. She is amazing. She works hard. She is never selfish and she tries so hard to make sure there is peace everywhere. She hates having anyone have unkind words or feelings against another. A true Christ like attribute. I know my mom doesn't think she has many qualities but I tell you what!!!!!!! She has many. She is very organzied. OK so I have no idea how to even start to be organized. I know I didn't get that from her. DARN IT. She doesn't have a mean bone in her. She is very honest. If anyone wants to know the truth we always ask her. She works very hard and I always remember we had hot meals ALL THE TIME. We never ate cereal for breakfast but always had a nice hot meal waiting for us for breakfast and dinner. It was awesome. She is very obedient. She does what is right. She doesn't have to question why....she just does it. Her love for family is unconditional. She loves having family around and doing things with them. She loves to have fun. I am honored to have her as my mom. I remember growing up that she was the reason I went to church. She was the example to me that helped me stay active. I am forever grateful for that. That is truly the one thing that I can never thank her enough for. There were many times I didn't want to get up for church but how I am grateful for her example. It has been a huge blessing in my life now. And there is nothing else I am more grateful for than to be a member of the church. Thanks mom for your example. I love you so much. I am grateful for your hard work and dedication to the family. I want you to know that you mean the world to me. Happy Mothers Day.

I am also blessed to have a great Mother in law. She is definately a keeper. She never over steps her bounds even though she has many reasons to. She is super creative and has made everyone of our childrens scrapbooks. She is very tolerant of others. I don't hear her gossip or talk mean about other people. She accepts them for who they are. She is a great cook. She has accomplished alot in her life. After Don's dad died at the age of 52 she had to handle a large family on her own and go back to school and work. What a trooper Judy. Seriously. I know that had to be hard and you proved to overcome many things and accomplish a hard task. You did it. You have every reason to be proud of what you did with what you had. I love you too and am grateful for you and your loving countenance. Happy Mothers Day.

Beautifully said Lisa! Seems Eve must have been a topic of discussion today in Sacrament meetings across the nation. As I read your loving tribute to your mother, it made me think of my own sweet mother, her sister and our dear Aunt...guess they must have learned their best quatlities from our angel grandmother! What a day to honor and remember them.
