I love quotes. They really get me thinking. My favorites are from the prophets. But this quote (not sure who it is from) is one of my favorites too. My niece has it posted in her room.
It's not who you are that holds you back,
it's who you think you're NOT.
We all do it. We all think I am not as good as so and so. I am not as good of a mom. I am not as good of an athlete, I am not as smart. I am not as pretty. I am not as skinny. I am not as helpful. I am not as patient. I am not as rich. All of these things hold us back from what we can become. Don't let those things get in the way of who you are.
I know for myself I tend to hold back on a lot of things for fear of failure. I am getting better. In fact, I so wish I could go back to highschool now with the things that I have learned and the things I know. I would be a totally different person. But I guess that is the way it goes. We grow up and learn and develop different qualities. We have events in our life that strengthen us and shape us into certain people. I am so thankful for the things I have faced in my life. Some of those things were not so great at the time but now that I look back I realize that they have helped me to become stronger and able to face more difficult situations. We can't be perfect and we are not even expected to be. But like President Hinckley say's, "Be a little better."

As always Lisa, great thoughts. It is so true that comparisons can keep us back in so many ways.
Funny thing is that often it goes both ways -- like everytime I read about the cute outings and projects you are doing with your kids or something big you are tackling on your own while Don is gone, I just think, "Wow! If I only I were more like that."
yes!
thanks for a great, insightful post.
and just so you know, whenever i think of awesome moms, you always come to mind.
Lisa, how do you change your background without losing your widgets and links? If you know could you fill me in please? Thanks!!
