Christmas tree

For FHE we went and chose a tree and cut it down. We found a great place close by that had some very nice trees. We got a perfect one for only $22. It took us awhile but we finally found one that we all agreed on. Caleb and Zach and I handled the ax and the same time and cut it down. Then Caleb drug it over to the netting and the guy helped us net it and get it on top of the car. It was pretty easy and painless. I LOVE the tradition of cutting a freshly cut tree down each year (OK well last year we had to use a fake one but besides that).

I know that this magical time is one of your favorite Don so I hope these pictures help you feel a part of what went on tonight for Family Home Evening. Rachel was on lesson. This is her lesson. "Do you know why we celebrate Christmas? Zach raised his hand and said "to celebrate the birth of Jesus. Then Rachel said , YES. And then she had to add AND "to get great presents from Santa". Can't forget that.

Then we decorated our tree and had a treat. I didn't hang a single ornament. I let the kids do it all by themselves. Caleb and Zach helped by telling the younger ones to "spread them out a bit", "Don't hang them so low". It was fun. The kids really loved decorating the tree. We talked about why we even have a tree and Caleb knew it was because all of the needles face up to heaven.

It was a memorable night until I had to fight everyone to get to bed. I don't think anyone was asleep before 9:30. YIKES. We might have some fussy kids tomorrow.

This is great. Thank you for putting this up for me to see. It helps me to feel like I am at least somewhat there. By the way, whats with the first picture and the red eye? The kids look satanic. I know their little devils sometimes but......
