So I got a call from someone in the RS presidency asking me if I could speak at the next Enrichment on blogging. Oh man....I know a few people in our ward that are AWESOME bloggers that would be perfect for this. And they had to ask me? I love to blog....not too good at it....and I know just the basics. I know how to upload pictures and change my background and write on the blog and that IS IT. Any suggestions? I don't even have my blog bound.
I really want to do better at documenting more on my blog. I need to try and write everyday. My father enjoyed reading my blog and he would remind me to update. After he died I have kind of let it die. I need to start it back up again.
Today we went ice skating. Santa gave each kid $5 towards an ice skating trip. It was quite fun watching the kids ice skate. And then I decided it would be so much better for the kids and me if I went out and skated. So I did. It was fun. I was all about 'helping' Mayah skate by using the little scoot thing they have for the kids. She held onto it while I used the back of it to steady me and push her. Don didn't want to be left out either and he joined in. He also 'had' to help Mayah out by using it. FUN FUN.
I warned Don about skating. He has a bad back and I told him if he fell and got hurt he was in big trouble. He's lucky he had something to hold on to.
Caleb didn't go with us. He was at his cousins house. We missed him but still had such a great time.
Caleb is a pretty serious kid. Lately though he has been saying some pretty funny things. He has ADHD and takes medication for it. My sister was getting mad at her son for being hyper and crazy. Caleb told my sister, "Do you want to give him some of my medicine"?
I'm thankful for my mom. She went through so much putting together the yearly notebook that she does every year for the grandkids for Christmas. It is ALOT of work and it isn't cheap either. And she didn't have my dad to help with ideas and things. The notebook was basically a tribute to my dad. OH it was amazing. Such a treasure. And boy did it ever make everyone cry. Thanks so much mom for all the hard work, tears, time and effort it took to get it all finished. It is perfect in every way.
I have alot to be grateful for. I am so grateful for my husband and our five wonderful kids. It is a busy household but they are just so kind, helpful and NOISY. Love em. I'm thankful for the Book of Mormon. Our family scripture study has been so chaotic. Normally we would just gather all the kids and read a verse or two and talk about it. My new idea was to have everyone bring their scriptures and we take turns reading. It takes alot more time but I can really tell a difference in the spirit that is there. It is actually quiet and everyone is following along waiting for their turn to read. Ethan (6) is amazing with what he can read. He really surpises me when he can pop out some of those big works....Lamanites, commandments. I'm thankful for a more peaceful family scripture study. I'm grateful for a new year. For some reason it always feel like a fresh start to things. I feel the need to do better in a lot of areas. I don't like to make resolutions because I always break them. But if I can just do better in some areas I feel like I am accomplishing something. I walked three days last week. YEAH....
I even took Rachel and Ethan with me and I was surprised at how fast they can walk. They kept up with me. AND NO that doesn't mean I walked slow. :) The other two days it got a bit too dark to walk after I got off work.

Lisa,
Great post...I kind of know how you feel. A young father just passed away in our ward and they called and asked me to help with the dinner...Of course I said yes....and then she said would I decorate the tables! Ha...anyone who knows me knows that is the last thing on earth I am worried about...been worried about it the last few days!!!! Make rolls, bake a cake...NOT decorating! Just do your best You'll be AWESOME! I would love to know what kind of stuff your mom puts in her Christmas notebook...is it like the history of the year with pictures? It sounds like the best Christmas gift of all!
good to hear an update! we too have found that if we all take turns reading... family scripture study is so much more peaceful as well. It does take more time but as you said... it's worth it.
sounds like a fun Enrichment lesson :) good luck!!
and great job being involved and going ice skating!!
