CAN IT BE?

Caleb on his first day of middle school. He is one tall dude. His shoe size? 8
Zach on his first day of 3rd grade. He is getting so big. His shoes? Size 7. YIKES.
Here is my little girl getting all grown up. Rachel's first day of 1st grade. Shoe size: only a 13/1.

My kids had there first day of school today. It kind of snuck up on me and came faster than I expected. We moved into this new school district in the middle of the school year last year so we are not used to starting so early. I think we normally start after Labor Day. But I guess it is better to start earlier and get out earlier.

Caleb missed the bus and Zach left his lunch on the counter. I guess that is what we get for taking pictures. OOPS. Oh well. It will be better tomorrow.

Don went to the temple last night and got home late and wasn't able to give the kids their fathers blessing for the new school year so he planned to go in late to work today so he could get that done. It is such an amazing blessing to have him do this for the kids. They look forward to it and even Ethan and Mayah get excited to be a part of the blessings even though they are not in school yet. I had tears as I thought about them going away on their first day. Thankfully the kids didn't notice. I will get my blessing from him tonight. He always gives one to me as well. I am thankful.

It is a bit sad for me when the kids leave for school. GRANTED....I do enjoy the calmness of things with the two kids here but I still can't help but think of the emotions the kids go through on their first day. Caleb is in middle school and he kept asking all types of questions but he did say he was really excited. I, on the other hand, not so much. At open house Don and I were amazed at how different it seemed from elementary school. The kids seemed so much more grown up than Caleb. He is probably one of the youngest in his class. We were surprised at the girls and their makeup and some of the skimpy clothes they were wearing. AND THIS IS MIDDLE SCHOOL? Made me think of High School. I just hope Caleb can be strong and keep his morals and values high and find good friends that can encourage and help.

I know the kids will do well and I know they will succeed. Caleb is in two honors classes and I am excited for him to learn and grow and have a little more freedom. He is a great kid with a desire to do what it right.
